CASE STUDY
Sarah Bern
Full-time Professional Rugby Player
Target:
Gain muscle whilst trimming fat
Weaknesses identified:
Food sensitivities and high levels of inflammation
"Working with Aron has taught me how my body works best, what it needs, when and how to get those 1-2% that make the biggest difference at elite level sport. His programme helped me with my body comp goals as they were totally tailored to me and fitted around my training schedule. They also took into account my past injuries and how food can prevent future flare ups. It’s just like a cheat code to getting the best out of your body"
Sarah came to me looking to improve her performance on the pitch as well as in the gym. Her goals were to increase lean muscle mass whilst trimming her weight. At the time of the consultation she was recovering from a few injuries. Within the consultation it was highlighted that Sarah had some biological challenges that were preventing her from recovering and performing efficiently such as high levels of inflammation and over-reacting to certain foods. These food sensitivities were preventing her from absorbing nutrients effectively and therefor she wasn’t reaping the anti-inflammatory benefits of the good food she was eating.
For Sarah to achieve her targets it was imperative that we healed her gut. This way she would be able to absorb protein and nutrients from her diet leading to lower inflammation levels and quicker recovery times. This was achieved by removing the foods causing discomfort, including anti-inflammatory and gut healing foods and swapping After this point we increased and optimised her protein intake, adjusted her carbohydrate intake and ensured she was receiving a full spectrum of nutrients.
Not only did Sarah manage to hit her target weight but she also increased her output in the gym moving through the weights week by week.
